Senior Manager, New Product Strategy

The Senior Manager of New Product Strategy will be responsible for evaluating and prioritizing growth opportunities for the Blueprint Medicines portfolio.  Reporting into the Chief Business Officer, this person will support Blueprint’s growing clinical and discovery stage pipeline by collaborating with cross functional colleagues to shape the overall strategy of key program with specific areas of focus being in commercial assessment, strategic analysis and insights generation to develop innovative and creative ideas for new product directions in Blueprint’s pipeline.  This person will be responsible for developing and delivering actionable insights and practical recommendations, integrating relevant primary and secondary data sources that inform executive-level decision-making and advance our business.  Close coordination with research, development, and commercial colleagues will be critical for success in this role.


  • Generate insights that facilitate portfolio trade-off discussions and buy-up decisions for new projects, develop portfolio level reports, project status updates and analyses to support business and portfolio review meetings
  • Provide senior leadership and functional partners with actionable insights from integrated sources, including intelligence about the competitive environment and key stakeholder attitudes and behaviors
  • Commercial assessments for a wide range of therapeutic areas including leading commercial analyses to identify new indications and market size estimates for future product candidates
  • Market research management including selection of effective methodology based on the objectives of the studies, manage vendor selection, fieldwork logistics, analysis of findings, presentation of final reports, and interpretation of market research results to support decision making
  • Work to define audience-centric digital strategies to support the tactical execution of programs and corporate initiatives including defining metrics for tracking and utilizing data to generate insights
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to establish Target Product Profiles, and determine early product positioning
  • Proactively explore innovation opportunities driven by technology, stakeholder needs and market opportunities
  • Maintain an external focus to map potential opportunities against identified program needs or within gaps in current portfolio. Collaborate with Business Development in the identification and diligence on external opportunities


  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (e.g., MS, MBA or PhD)
  • The position requires a highly motivated individual who is able to collaborate in a dynamic and quickly changing environment
  • Ability to think strategically as well as tactical results oriented
  • Demonstrated creativity, entrepreneurship and pragmatism in approach to problem solving;
  • Track record assessing the clinical and commercial value of assets utilizing KOL and internal clinical opinion, published scientific literature, market research, syndicated reports and various audits.
  • Strong team and collaborative capabilities demonstrated in past organizational achievements
