Associate Director/Principle Scientist, Immuno-Oncology

Blueprint Medicines, headquartered in Cambridge, MA, is a top-tier, publicly-traded (BPMC) company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing highly-selective kinase inhibitors for genomically defined diseases.  The company has built a sophisticated genomics platform and one-of-a-kind annotated compound collection which is delivering a pipeline of novel therapies.  In just four years, five programs have been established in genomically defined cancers and one program in the rare genetic disease space.

We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated senior biologist with deep experience in immunology and cancer biology to serve as a key leader in our effort to build our immuno-oncology drug discovery group.  The selected individual will contribute immunology and cell and molecular biology expertise to small molecule drug discovery programs that lead to the identification of drug candidates for clinical development.  This is a unique opportunity to join a clinical-stage company and contribute to our efforts as we become a fully commercialized biopharmaceutical organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad strategic and technical leadership across multiple immuno-oncology programs and initiatives
  • Serve as project team lead on one or more small molecule drug discovery programs in the areas of immune-oncology and oncology, managing timelines, milestones, budgets and objectives
  • Leverage knowledge of immunology and cancer biology to explore the function of kinases in immune signaling with an emphasis on immuno-oncology
  • Contribute to the identification and characterization of small molecule inhibitors of target immuno-kinases, including molecular definition of potential responders
  • Extend and diversify internal immunology capabilities through interaction with external collaborators and CROs

Qualifications

  • PhD in immunology, biology or a related discipline with relevant post-doctoral training
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience in a biopharmaceutical setting
  • Recognized as a leader in the field with a strong publication record in the areas of inflammation, autoimmunity and/or immuno-oncology.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills an enthusiasm for participating in a fast-paced environment characterized by rigorous science and innovative thinking
  • Extensive experience  with immune cell model systems and standard immunology techniques

Capabilities

  • Demonstrated application of immunology expertise to drug discovery in the context of inflammation, autoimmunity and/or immuno-oncology
  • Significant (3-5 years) experience leading strong multi-disciplinary teams focused on small molecule drug discovery
  • Familiarity with engaging and managing external efforts with contract research organizations and academic collaborators
  • At home in a results-driven, highly accountable environment where you can make a clear impact
  • A team player and mentor, who listens effectively and invites response and discussion
  • A collaborator who communicates in an open, clear, complete, timely and consistent manner
