Senior Financial Analyst

Blueprint Medicines is developing a new generation of highly selective and potent kinase medicines to improve the lives of patients with genomically defined diseases.  Our approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the genetic blueprint of cancer and other diseases driven by the abnormal activation of kinases. We believe that our ability to identify novel drivers of disease, coupled with our proprietary library of novel and diverse chemical compounds, uniquely enables us to craft kinase therapies against new and difficult-to-drug targets. To aid in this mission, we are seeking a highly creative, experienced medicinal chemist to lead medicinal chemistry programs to identify drug candidates for clinical development. 

 

As a member of the Finance team at Blueprint Medicines, you will partner with the organization and be a key contributor in financial forecasting, reporting & analysis. The role will focus on the analytics that support budgeting, forecasting, monthly financial reporting, project management, and strategic financial planning. The Analyst will be a hands-on resource to senior management, department heads, and project leads.  This is an opportunity to provide support and leadership on key strategic business initiatives at a time of high-growth. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of all recurring finance activities including development of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and long range planning; provide both operational and strategic financial support to help facilitate decision making
  • Partner with program team leaders and functional heads to ensure financial information (budget vs. actual) is provided in an accurate and timely manner, present key insights or trends that require attention and enable budget owners to manage their budgets
  • Develop and build financial models to support tactical and strategic decision making
  • Work closely with the accounting team to assist with the monthly financial close process
  • Manage day-to-day purchase requisition approvals and resolve ad-hoc invoicing issues
  • Leverage the Oracle financial planning and budgeting system to continuously improve our reporting & analysis tools and reports
  • Work with finance management on special projects as required, including business development and investor relations support

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting roles; life science experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA and/or CPA a plus)

Capabilities:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel based modeling
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and planning and reporting tools preferred
  • At home in a results-driven, highly accountable environment where you can make a clear impact
  • A team player, who listens effectively and invites response and discussion
  • A collaborator who communicates in an open, clear, complete, timely and consistent manner
