Scientist I, Computational Biology

At Blueprint Medicines, as our name indicates, we are creating a blueprint for the future of healthcare.  We are a leading company in the personalized medicine revolution by focusing on delivering new medicines that are targeted to the genetic driver of disease.  We do this by leveraging our one-of-kind drug discovery platform to discover, develop and work to bring highly-selective kinase inhibitors to patients globally.  This prolific scientific platform has enabled Blueprint Medicine to build a pipeline of novel therapies that span three distinct areas of medicine; genomically defined cancers, rare diseases and cancer immunotherapy.

Blueprint Medicines is seeking a Scientist, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics to assist drug discovery process. The ideal candidate will lead target identification effort using internal and external datasets, as well as support scientific computation and bioinformatics effort from early target discovery, optimization to late stage translational medicine investigation. This will be an exciting opportunity to be involved in various stages of the drug discovery process using your computational and analytical skills, and working in an innovative, motivating and collaborative environment.

  • Analyze public and internal genomics data to facilitate novel target identification, patient stratification and hypothesis generation
  • Collaborate with biologists to drive genomics studies, generate results and provide insights in a timely manner
  • Curate clinically generated data, analyze treatment outcome and device follow-up strategies.
  • Develop and optimize tools for data organization, integration and sample tracking
  • Document algorithms and contribute to internal knowledge building

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics or related disciplines, or BS/MS with 1+ years in computational biology experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Proficient with scripting languages such as R and python, statistical tools and workflows used in genomics data analysis and databases, and data visualization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of biological systems and common experimental approaches to address biological questions

  • Track record of successfully working in cross-function teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, result-driven environment
  • Effective listener, clear communicator and quick learner

All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.

Blueprint Medicines’ mission is to dramatically improve the lives of patients with genomically defined diseases. Our singular focus is to use our deep understanding of the genetic blueprint of cancer and other diseases driven by the abnormal activation of kinases to craft highly selective medicines aimed at eradicating these diseases.

We don’t think in small steps. We think in giant leaps.

We are driven by the pursuit of new ideas, new innovations, and new ways of thinking.

We know that what each and every one of us does matters and that our success depends on our ability to work together.
